| i love wednesdays! |
[04 Mar 2009|10:19pm] |
that's when i have my cultural foods class! today.. we made german food. my group got spaetzle and letmetellyou it's more difficult than you might think. it's kind of ridiculousususly messy.. or at least the way we made it, it was. But in the end it was amazing, as was everything else. Every wednesday i get soooo much free food.. which is probably why i like it so much i guess.
other than that, things are great. my motha fucking car is working again!! omg. hopefully this last repair is the last thing that needs fixing for a VERYYY long time cos i cannot afford to fix it anymore. haha i might have to sell it very soon. i'm getting a bike over spring break.. which a HUGE basket. it's going to be awesome. I'm going to try to use my car as little as possible. (even though sometimes cars are really convenient for when i'm running late to work and it's freezing cold outside)
i feel like i just got over one of the hard parts of the semester and i'm sooo relieved. in the last two weeks i've had two midterms, one intense practical exam, and a book report on a 400 page book which i felt obligated to actually read (The Omnivore's Dilemma.. check it out) so now i get to be lazy again for a short while. haha. did i mention i only have class monday through wednesday? sounds good, but on mondays and wednesday i have work starting at 9am and class ending at 10pm. tuesday, work at 9am and class until 8pm. so it's kind of intense sometimes. haha
things in general are really good for me and i hope they stay that way *knock on wood*

My cat has decided that her favorite place is in the sink at all times. What she does not realize.. is that sometimes I have to use said sink. When this sort of thing happens, I USED to pluck her out, set her on the ground, and use the sink, but now.. I simply turn the water on while she's still in there. Remarkably, she remains in the sink and just kind of looks at me like "what was that you just did right there?". I've done this several times now and it hasn't seemed to have had an affect on the fact that she loves sitting in the sink. Crazycrazy kitty.

Other than kitty-in-sink dilemma (not to be confused with simeon's dilemma), things are going pretty swell. I'm all settled in nowww and have most of my classes lined up.. I'm only taking 12 units, but that is not for lack of trying to take more. This school is not very cooperative where the advancement of its lower class men is concerned. I'm taking my last two GE classes this semester, as well as the WST in October, so I'll be taking upper division courses byyy the spring. I'm pretty excited and feel really good about that.
Just now in the bathroom after I had washed my hands with the cat in the sink, i turned around to dry my hands and there was A HUGE SPIDER IN MY FACE. Now. I realize this probably isn't normal behavior, but rather than kill it, I took pictures of it so that I could send them to Josh to frighten him and brag that I took pictures of it rather than kill it. Hahaha. What?
It's been hot hot hot up here lately. I think I might be melting which, combined with some other unknown illness which has appeared to put my poooor thyroid glands into overdrive (or something of the sort. there's always something with me)I'm pretty sure I'm falling apart. It's cool though. I like it this way.
I got a raise at work. And i'm pretty sure that's pretty tight especially since I just sit around and search craigslist all day and I get to completely choose my hours. I wish I worked all summer, I would be loaded right now. Haha, instead.. I nearly killed my bank account this summer =[[
OMGGOMGOGMO SIOBHAN IS FUCKING COMING UP THIS WEEKEND. it's the best news i've gotten since I came back up this summer. I cannot not not not NOT wait for her to move back up and for midnight movies to start again... because with midnight movies comes froyo, multiple visits to longs, spiked coffee, long romantic walks, saturns (milkshakes, specifically), andddd lots of tom foolery which my life has been so empty without this summer. omg. =]
Anyways, the top of my head hurts in one specific place. Maybe that spider got me afterall, who knows. Maybeeee it will be deadly. Also. I think I'm a pretty good person for fixing a problem that I unintentionally and indirectly caused. =]] This is me feeling good about it. Haha probably won't last long though.
Anyways. I need to buy cat food and front line tomorrow. Don't you let me forget!! I mean it. There was something else I needed as well, I think it was school supplies. Thus far, I only have... One binder for all four of my classes. It makes me feel really prepared.
Alright.. Now tell me how you guys are doinggg. IM me.. Cookiesofobesity (like alwaysss) and if you might be interested in befriending me on my new myspace, pleaseee let me know =]
Danke!! <3

some cops are idiots...
so the other day i got pulled over after getting off at Collins... when he came to my window he asked the usual "do you know why i pulled you over?" and.. honestly.. i was clueless. i was going 40mph in a 35 zone, but cops usually won't pull you over until you're going 15 over. next i thought.. maybe i ran a light? didn't think so either.. apparently.. somehow i magically got my car up to 85mph somewhere between getting on the freeway at New LA Ave and getting off at Collins. This baffles me in a number of different ways.. First of all, have you seen my car? it's giant! and kind of slow to pick up speed. I'll admit, that it goes pretty fast once i've been driving for awhile, but the thought of getting it up to 80mph in less than a mile of freeway where most of it is curved.. especially with my bad brakes, is pretty ridiculous. Second, my coolant light has been going off kind of often lately, but mostly when my car is on a downhill slope. Whenever said light goes off, my eyes are immediately drawn to my dashboard. I specifically remember that when i was going down the hill after the Princeton exit and this light went off, i noticed that my speed was only around 65mph. I took special note of this because ahead of me i saw someone getting pulled over.
Anyways, i asked the cop where exactly i was speeding.. because i know i wasn't speeding going up the on ramp or going around the bend OR going downhill, so i was really confused where this happened during the short time i was on the freeway.. he told me it was at 118 at pointdexter... correct me if i'm wrong, but pointdexter ends WAY WAY WAY before it even has a chance of reaching the freeway.. so i asked him if he was sure he meant pointdexter and not princeton.. he was sure. Today in the mail, however, i received a notice of correction amending the location from 118 @ pointdexter to 118 @ princeton... Obviously this cop wasn't on top of his game that night, i'll be sure to point that out when i fight this in court.

I have a problem. I got a Disneyland Passport, but have only had a chance to use it very seldom seeing as how I lived in San Jose for most of the year. It's blocked out for most of the summer except for the week of June 22nd to June 27th.. This is where you come in... I need YOU to come to Disneyland with me this week. I can drive and suchh, no problem... I just don't wanna go to the happiest place on earth all by myself. =]] hahah, so anyone who wants to go, just let me know. Let's make it happen. It will be marvelous.

what am i going to do?
i'm totally freaking out. i was really counting on san jose to get back to me by friday, and now i might have to wait another two weeks. maybe it's a sign. maybe... davis needs me? haha. no, but seriously this situation is horrible. i was waiting and waiting for a reply that never came, and now i have to pay $100 to a school that i don't especially want to go to. i might even have to go there. maybe it'll be better that way, i don't even know. and besides that, housing shit is probably due as well, that's a lot that i need to get done as a fall back plan if the school i want doesn't want me.
in other news. prom was pretty fantastic. the people i went with (some*) were amazing and i couldn't ask for better company. jordan (and everyone else) looked pretty snazzy all dressed up.
( See for yourself! )
anyways, this weekend was pretty fantastic, but lacked sleeps. i'm definitely wornnn out. haha. i can't wait until next weekend. i'm going to the bike shop! who wants to come with me? i'm getting a beach cruiser or something =]]

2 more days until the first day that i have a possibility of finding out if i got into sjsu... however... if the first of may rolls around and still no news, i'm gonna have to say yes to ucdavis instead. i'm not entirely sure how i feel about this situation, or why i feel so compelled to go to a school that lost my transcript and is waiting until 4 days before i have to make my decision to tell me whether i got in or not... but i really really prefer san jose for one reason or another.
next year.. is such a mystery.. i keep looking at apartments and thinking about how great it would be to live in one of those.. and possibly get a cat, but then something else is telling me that maybe my parents are right and that i should live on campus for the first year (or at least first semester) so as to make friends.. and get involved? hopefully whatever school i end up at will make me feel the need to.. get involved. because high school surely never presented a reason for me to do so. but.. i do think that dorms are out of the question. one bathroom for an entire floor of girls? i'm not so sure this would be good for me. Suites seem nice though, minus the fact that there issss no kitchen and that i'd have to buy a meal card. yuck. fast food all the time?
anyways.. this has been delightfully pointless. where is everyone else going? and... where should i go!? have any of you heard any good and/or bad things about ucdavis or san jose state? i would be verrry interested in your opinion. =]]

spring break is always much too short =[ i can't believe that tomorrow we all have to go back. terribleterrible.
i visited san jose state and davis... and i definitely liked san jose a lot lot lot better... now if only they'd accept me, but i have to wait until the 27th of this month (or later) to actually find out. lame. the atmosphere there was just so much better... either way, though, i'm going to get a sweet ass set of wheels... beach cruiser wheels... all white or seafoam green beach cruiser wheels... with a basket. =]]
today was the first day i got to sleep in since tuesday. it was excellent. but i'm still pretty tired. i could probably sleep for another week.
someone should go to it's a grind with me, or something. coffee sounds pretty good right now, and i haven't really seen anyone this break cos i had work and road trip the entire time.
oh!... and was calculus homework optional?... because i've heard things... but i want to verify them before going back tomorrow to lose 2894732 points. hah.
i hope everyone had a wonderful spring break! and if you weren't on spring break, i guess i still hope you had a great week. haha.

| New York as told by Jordan Brunner aka Cutiepants. |
[28 Dec 2006|10:21am] |
Ok, so as you may or may not know, my family decided to go to New York City for christmas. The gang was: Myself (Jordan), Kara (my baby), Dyani (older sister), Alex (dyani's man), Savannah (little sis) and Kelly (mom). Day 1: we leave for the airport. here's a pic of my view from the airplane. we left at about 10:00 am from the airport, and arrived in NYC at the hotel at 10:00 pm. The Hotel (New York Mariott Marquis) was the most fantastic hotel I've ever stayed in. ever. It was the biggest in Times Square (that's right, we were literally in the heart of Manhattan). We were on floor 34. The Mariott had these pod-like elevators that would bring you from floor 1 to floor 48 in a matter of 22 seconds. It felt like we were getting beamed up to our room from some spaceship. I make it my goal to get a hot dog from a cart on the street. my mom bought a "prada" bag from 3 black guys in an alley. it was scary. (sorry, no pics of that encounter).
Day 2: We awake, and have lots to do. First up: Statue of Liberty. Which, I have to say, was somewhat smaller than I had hoped. I always thought of it as being this GIGANTIC statue, but really, it's just the platform it's on. The statue herself is kinda short. Here's Kara with her.

next up, Madame Tussad's wax museum. all in all, it was fun. I got some good pics with celebs that look amazingly real (until your flash goes off. then they just look like wax.). more wandering around the city after that. still no hot dog.
Now, this story is pretty good. We go to the Guggenheim Museum that night. I am delirious from the flu, and the medication overdoses that I have been doing for days. The museum is shaped like a funnel, or a shell. The middle is hollow, and the floors spiral around the sides. The reason I mention it is because Kara dropped a bottle of orange Sobe from my backpack, shattering it on the floor. The broken glass echoes through the whole museum, and orange fluid spills down the lobby right into a line of people waiting for the coat check. I take the blame.
Oh, by the way, I was sick with the flu the ENTIRE TRIP. yeah not fun. which leads to...
Day 3: I slept. all day. the flu was horrible. Kara, my mom, and savannah went to Ground Zero. I slept. I also spend upwards of $50 on medication trying to find the one that will let me walk around NYC in December. no such luck on that day. No hot dog.

Day 4: Chrismas eve. We went to the Metropolitan Museum, which was amazing!
It was sooooo much fun. Mummies, ancient artifacts, and beautiful sculptures. It was accompanied by a walk through Central Park. BEAUTIFUL. Look at this. I took it, and didn’t realize how great it was until I put it on my computer.
Everyone, save that and put it on your background. That is arguably the greatest photo I have ever taken. Still no hot dog.

Day 5: Christmas. We really didn’t do much, just relaxed and hung out in Times Square. That night, we went to the Empire State Building. From the 86th floor, you can see everything. It was super rad. However, the weather was starting to get bad, and so it was raining, and the wind was hard enough to knock you over. Look at this pic of my mom.

here’s me.

and just for good measure, here’s a pic of the group at Planet Hollywood. Ramdom.

Day 6: Leaving. God Damnit. Nobody wanted to go, despite the constant arguments between siblings. What a great trip. Oh, and before we went to the airport, I got my hot dog. It’s a Christmas Miracle!
